Robert Poth is from Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. He is a member of the Delancey British U21 Alpine Ski Team and is the English Alpine Combined Champion for 2017.
Robert began his first ski lessons on a dry ski slope at the age of three progressing swiftly through the various ski groups which eventually led him to take part in his first ski race at the age of four. Throughout the U14 and U16 age groups he was a member of the British Children’s Ski Team taking part in regular Children’s international races. His main highlight during this period was his International overall win in January 2013 at the FIS ski ‘Interkriterium’ Slalom in the Czech Republic, creating British ski racing history being the first Brit to do so in over 20 years.
Now aged 20, this marks Robert’s 8th year representing Great Britain as a member of the Delancey British Alpine Ski Team and Kandahar Ski Race Academy. He is a European Youth Winter Olympian having competed at the EYOF 2015 held in Liechenstein and Vorarlberg and also holds a Team GB Olympic Association Silver passport.
This season will be Robert’s ffth year of FIS racing and third year as a full time athlete. He races on the International circuit against the worlds best and this year was proud to represent Great Britain in both Slalom and Giant Slalom at the World Junior Alpine Championships held in Sweden. He has also gained further valuable experience by making his debut on the Europa Cup circuit.
Robert’s goals of reaching Olympic Level and representing Great Britain at the 2022 Olympic games are on track. He is currently ranked 5th overall in Britain behind Dave Ryding for slalom and 61st in the world for his year of birth.
